Wed 14/04/21: Today I Watched a House through time and took notes, this can be found on my Unit 3 Research Blog. I also made a mood board on my initial thoughts on the project for unit 4, This will be on My Unit 4 research blog.

Edward Saunders was a ship’s captain, another captain with the last name is Joseph Smith. Very common.

Could have been not guilty?

Martha was born, found at captain smiths’ door, abandoned without a last name.
Maybe the smiths had a reputation of being childcares.
Did the smiths take Martha in? Was Captain smith the father to the bastard child?
Importance of things left behind.
Mothers would leave behind token to prove they gave up their children so they could claim them back
The smiths did not take Martha.
William Barnsdale moves in after Joseph dies.
William was also a captain.
Shebear resides , in the house.
Gotten into a Hogarth painting, for his 6^th letter declaring the country was going to hell.

John shabear was popular with the people of England, where the government tried to shame him but backfired.
Joseph and Hester Mulbrok, very wealthy moved in. Traded goods.

Thomas was valuable to Joseph and Hester.

Starts showing apartments from the outside.
Viewing what I assume is neighbours going about their lives, all very different and all apartments are different even though some are in the same building.
Jeffries- I assume is the Maine character, as he’s on the phone he watched all his neighbours in their apartments from his.
Attractive woman is amongst the favourites, dances in tiny lounge.
Older married man and his younger wife in another apartment, separate single beds.
Nosey lady is another neighbour.
Jeffries witnesses a man having an affair? Leaving his home late at night.
Witnesses the piano played come home drunk and alone, upset. The piano players flat is small, the piano taking centre of the room.
In the daytime all flats are in full swing, manic and lively.
He grows a fascination into his neighbour, who he believes killed his wife.
Is it ethical to watch into another mans home?

I spotted Hitchcock very easily in the piano players apartment. It’s important the storyline follows a heatwave, this explains why Jefferson can easily look into all the apartments so well, all the large windows are open. In my opinion it’s justifiable that Jeffries is spying on people, he is only looking into peoples lives as he is cooped up at home not able to leave the house, due to his injured leg. It’s not like he’s perfectly able and has a lot of entertainment where he is, also he has no malicious intent. Hitchcock uses Interior Design to tell a story as all the apartments are decorated differently, giving a perspective into what that character’s life is like.
